How far along: 29 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: As of Saturday up 22.5 pounds so probably around 23-24 by now :)

Sleep: it is ok as long as I sleep on my left side. I have trouble breathing if I am on my right. I am also beginning to get leg cramps sometimes which hurt a ton!

Best moment this week: My mom and I have been doing tons of baby stuff. The nursey is painted and my mom bought the babies going home outfit today, so cute!

Movement: he keeps bouncing around in there.

Food cravings: carbs, particularlly cereal

Food aversions: chicken

Gender: BOY

Labor Signs: None

Belly Button in or out? Still an innie, for now at least.

What I miss: Sleeping through the night

What I am looking forward to: the baby shower next month

Weekly Wisdom: gas and iron pills suck!!!!

Milestones: I made it to 29 weeks!

How your baby's growing:
Your baby now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (like a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is growing bigger to make room for his developing brain. To meet his increasing nutritional demands, you'll need plenty of protein, vitamins C, folic acid, and iron. And because his bones are soaking up lots of calcium, be sure to drink your milk (or find another good source of calcium, such as cheese, yogurt, or enriched orange juice). This trimester, about 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited in your baby's hardening skeleton each day.

Note: Every baby develops a little differently — even in the womb. Our information is designed to give you a general idea of your baby's development.

How your life's changing:
Your baby's very active now. Your practitioner may ask you to spend some time each day counting kicks and will give you specific instructions on how to do this. Let her know if you ever notice a decrease in activity. You may need a nonstress test or biophysical profile to check on your baby's condition.

Some old friends — heartburn and constipation — may take center stage now. The pregnancy hormone progesterone relaxes smooth muscle tissue throughout your body, including your gastrointestinal tract. This relaxation, coupled with the crowding in your abdomen, slows digestion, which in turn can cause gas and heartburn — especially after a big meal — and contribute to constipation as well.

Your growing uterus may also be contributing to hemorrhoids. These swollen blood vessels in your rectal area are common during pregnancy and usually clear up in the weeks after giving birth. If they're itchy or painful, try soaking in a sitz bath or applying cold compresses medicated with witch hazel to the affected area. Also avoid sitting or standing for long stretches. Talk with your practitioner before using any over-the counter remedies during pregnancy, and let her know if you have any rectal bleeding. To prevent constipation, eat a high-fiber diet, drink plenty of water, and get some regular exercise.

Some women get something called "supine hypotensive syndrome" during pregnancy, where laying flat on your back causes a change in heart rate and blood pressure that makes you feel dizzy until you change position. You might note that you feel lightheaded if you stand up too quickly, too. To avoid "the spins" lie on your side rather than your back, and move slowly as you go from lying down to sitting and then standing.

28 Weeks

I missed 27 weeks last week, but it was fairly uneventful. The only thing that happened is I failed my 1-hour glucose by 4 points so I have to go tomorrow to take the 3 hour which is a big PITA! I actually have to start fasting in 45 minutes. I better have a last minute piece of toast or something!!

Also Mike took another set of belly pictures for everyone viewing pleasure (I think Mike needs to warn me when he is going to take them so I can smile! Ignore the face I am making):

How far along: 28 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: As of Saturday up 20.4 lbs

Sleep: it is ok as long as I sleep on my left side. I have trouble breathing if I am on my right. I am also beginning to get leg cramps sometimes which hurt a ton!

Best moment this week: We just went today to buy the crib. It was probably the hardest decision I have had to make so far. I never thought it would be that difficult!

Movement: he seems to get stronger everyday.

Food cravings: carbs, particularlly cereal

Food aversions: chicken

Gender: BOY

Labor Signs: None

Belly Button in or out? The Innie is holding strong

What I miss: Sleeping through the night

What I am looking forward to: my parents coming on Wednesday and painting the nursery.

Weekly Wisdom: laying on my right side is not a good thing anymore.

Milestones: I made it to 28 weeks!

How your baby's growing:
By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. She can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. She's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.

See what your baby looks like this week. (Or see what fraternal twins look like in the womb this week.)

Note: Every baby develops a little differently — even in the womb. Our information is designed to give you a general idea of your baby's development.

How your life's changing:
You're in the home stretch! The third and final trimester starts this week. If you're like most women, you'll gain about 11 pounds this trimester.

At this point, you'll likely visit your doctor or midwife every two weeks. Then, at 36 weeks, you'll switch to weekly visits. Depending on your risk factors, your practitioner may recommend repeating blood tests for HIV and syphilis now, as well as doing cultures for chlamydia and gonorrhea, to be certain of your status before delivery. Also, if your glucose screening test result was high and you haven't yet had follow-up testing, you'll soon be given the 3-hour glucose tolerance test. And if the blood work done at your first prenatal visit showed that you're Rh negative, you'll get an injection of Rh immunoglobulin to prevent your body from developing antibodies that could attack your baby's blood. (If your baby is Rh positive, you'll receive another shot of Rh immunoglobulin after you give birth.)

Around this time, some women feel an unpleasant "creepy-crawly" sensation in their lower legs and an irresistible urge to move them while trying to relax or sleep. If this sensation is at least temporarily relieved when you move, you may have what's known as restless legs syndrome (RLS). No one knows for sure what causes RLS, but it's relatively common among expectant mothers. Try stretching or massaging your legs, and cut down on caffeine, which can make the symptoms worse. Ask your caregiver if you should try iron supplements, which can sometimes relieve RLS

26 weeks

How far along: 26 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: As of Saturday up 17.5 lbs

Sleep: it is getting shorter and shorter in between bathroom trips! About 2-4 hours.

Best moment this week: Seeing Mike read his baby book. I LOVE it!! We will lay in bed reading and he will start laughing and share what he is reading, I love that!

Movement: he loves to move around! I think this means he is going to be an active child!

Food cravings: carbs and sweets alittle.

Food aversions: still chicken

Gender: BOY

Labor Signs: None

Belly Button in or out? Innie, barely! I am thinking it might pop out one of these days!

What I miss: Sleeping through the night

What I am looking forward to: 11 school days until Christmas break, we will be painting the babies room :)

Weekly Wisdom: falling on the ice is not a good thing!!

Milestones: I made it to 26 weeks!

How your baby's growing:
The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. He's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air. And he's continuing to put on baby fat. He now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber) from head to heel. If you're having a boy, his testicles are beginning to descend into his scrotum — a trip that will take about two to three days.

See what your baby looks like this week.

Note: Every baby develops a little differently — even in the womb. Our information is designed to give you a general idea of your baby's development.

How your life's changing:

Are you rushing around trying to get to childbirth classes and prepare your baby's room while still taking care of all your other daily tasks? Make sure that you also continue to eat well and get plenty of rest. Around this time, your blood pressure may be increasing slightly, although it's probably still lower than it was before you got pregnant. (Typically, blood pressure falls toward the end of the first trimester, and it tends to reach a low at about 22 to 24 weeks.)

Preeclampsia — a serious disorder characterized by high blood pressure and protein in your urine — most often shows up after 37 weeks, but it can happen earlier so it's important to be aware of the warning signs of this condition. Call your caregiver if you have swelling in your face or puffiness around your eyes, more than slight swelling of your hands, excessive or sudden swelling of your feet or ankles, or rapid weight gain (more than 4 pounds in a week). With more severe preeclampsia, you may experience other symptoms. Let your caregiver know immediately if you have a severe or persistent headache, vision changes (including double or blurred vision, seeing spots or flashing lights, sensitivity to light, or temporary loss of vision), intense pain or tenderness in your upper abdomen, or vomiting.

If your lower back seems a little achy lately, you can thank both your growing uterus — which shifts your center of gravity, stretches out and weakens your abdominal muscles, and may be pressing on a nerve — as well as hormonal changes that loosen your joints and ligaments. Plus, the extra weight you're carrying means more work for your muscles and increased stress on your joints, which is why you may feel worse at the end of the day. Walking, standing, or sitting for long periods, as well as bending and lifting can all put a strain on your back. A warm bath or hot compress might bring relief. (Some women, though, find cool compresses more comforting.) Try to maintain good posture during the day, avoid activities that require bending and twisting at the same time, take frequent breaks when sitting or standing, and sleep on your side with one or both knees bent with a pillow between your legs, using another pillow (or wedge) to support your abdomen.

How far along: 25 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: As of Saturday up 16.8 lbs

Best moment this week: My mom bought 3 snappis and 2 covers and a BG AIO for the little one!!!!

Movement: he is kicking up a storm in there! I love it!!! Poor Mike though, our little one is a little stinker and likes to stop as soon as Mike puts his hands on my belly!

Food cravings: carbs!

Food aversions: still warm white meat (ie chicken or turkey, I had cold turkey leftovers today and it was great!) that is cooked in my house and Ketchup!!!! YUCK!

Gender: BOY

Labor Signs: None

Belly Button in or out? Innie

What I miss: Sleeping through the night

What I am looking forward to: 16 school days until Christmas break, we will be painting the babies room :)

Weekly Wisdom: Sleep is great!

Milestones: I made it to 25 weeks!

How your baby's growing
Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. Her weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but she's beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat. As she does, her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and she'll start to look more and more like a newborn. She's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture.

See what your baby looks like this week.

Note: Every baby develops a little differently — even in the womb. Our information is designed to give you a general idea of your baby's development.

Your baby's not the only one with more hair — your locks may look more full and lustrous than ever. It's not that you're growing more hair, but thanks to hormonal changes, the hair that you'd normally shed is sticking around longer than usual. Enjoy the fullness while you can — the extra hair will fall out after you give birth.

You may also notice that you can't move around as gracefully as before. Unless your caregiver has advised you otherwise, it's fine to continue to exercise, but follow a few safety rules: Don't work out when you're feeling overly tired and stop if you feel any pain, dizziness, or shortness of breath. Don't lie flat on your back and avoid contact sports as well as any exercise where you're apt to lose your balance. Be sure to drink plenty of water, and make time for both warm-up and cool-down periods.

When you have your glucose-screening test at 24 to 28 weeks, a second tube of blood may be taken at the same time to check for anemia. If blood tests show that you have iron-deficiency anemia (the most common type of anemia), your caregiver will probably recommend that you take an iron supplement.

Week 24

So week 24 has come and gone but I still wanted to update on how everything went. I finally had my first big pop during week 24 and finally look pregnant. I will take another picture next week and put it up. I also had the biggest weight gain so far last week, I am up a total of about 16.5 lbs but still am in the normal range. It is pretty much all in my tummy so I still look pretty good. My parents also came last week for Thanksgiving and we got SO much done!

My mom and I prepped all of the prefolds (we had to wash them 8 times!)We also looked at paint colors for the nursery and have it narrowed down to 3. Once Mike gives his opinion and we decide what we are going to pick I will post it on here for everyone to see :)They will be back in 3 weeks and there is a list of things for us to do. The weeks are just flying by!

Ok, I will add week 25 a little later :)

23 weeks

How far along: 23 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: As of Saturday up 12.4 lbs

Sleep: is great! inbetween getting up to pee ")

Best moment this week: I got fluffy mail today!!! 2 wool covers, SO cute!!

Movement: he is kicking up a storm in there! I love it!!!! I can actually see him at night kicking if I am laying on my back.

Food cravings: carbs! cereal, oatmeal, pbj etc...

Food aversions: still meat that is cooked in my house and Ketchup!!!! YUCK!

Gender: BOY

Labor Signs: None

Belly Button in or out? Innie

What I miss: A glass of wine or a blue moon!!!

What I am looking forward to: My next OB appt on the 18th.

Weekly Wisdom: Stress is not helpful!

Milestones: I made it to 23 weeks!

How your baby's growing:
Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With her sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that she's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango), you may be able to see her squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing her for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze her when she hears them outside the womb.

See what your baby looks like this week.

Note: Every baby develops a little differently — even in the womb. Our information is designed to give you a general idea of your baby's development.

How your life's changing:

You may notice that your ankles and feet start to swell a bit in the coming weeks or months, especially at the end of the day or during the heat of summer. Sluggish circulation in your legs — coupled with changes in your blood chemistry that may cause some water retention — may result in swelling, also known as edema. Your body will get rid of the extra fluid after you have your baby, which is why you'll pee frequently and sweat a lot for a few days after delivery. In the meantime, lie on your left side or put your feet up when you can, stretch out your legs when you sit, and avoid sitting — or standing — in one place for long periods. Also, try to exercise regularly to increase circulation, and wear support stockings (put them on first thing in the morning) and roomy, comfortable shoes. You may be tempted to skimp on liquids to combat swelling, but you need to drink plenty of water because staying hydrated actually helps prevent fluid retention. While a certain amount of edema in your lower extremities is normal during pregnancy, excessive swelling may be a sign of a serious condition called preeclampsia. Be sure to call your midwife or doctor if you have severe or sudden swelling of your feet or ankles, more than slight swelling of your hands, swelling in your face, or puffiness around your eyes.

New Pictures

Well tomorrow I will be 23 weeks and my mom has been begging for a picture so I had Mike take some tonight. I still look like a mix between fat and pregnant, I haven't had any strangers say anything yet. I still think I am in the "Is she pregnant or cubby?" stage.

On another note the little boy is starting to kick up a storm! On Mikes 28th birthday he got to feel him move for the first time! He had the biggest smile on his face! Now the baby is starting to kick alittle harder and I can see him kick when I am laying in bed. Mike is still waiting to see it though, I think the baby knows when Mike leaves the room because he will start kicking, but when Mike comes back he stops. Poor Mike, hopefully he will see it soon!

22 weeks

I almost forgot to update this week! It has been so busy and I am not feeling that great today, I have a terrible headache!!!! But here is 22 weeks, a half a week late!

How far along: 22 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: As of Saturday up 11 lbs...ugh, at least it is only in my tummy, nothing else looks bigger.

Sleep: is great! I even went a whole night (on Monday) without having to get up and pee....one night out of the last 50 or so isn't bad!

Best moment this week: Mikes Birthday was Tuesday and he felt the baby move for the first time while we were laying in bed. It isn't very strong yet but he still felt him. It was SO cute, Mike had the biggest smile on his face!!! I loved it!

Movement: he is kicking, or at least moving on a pretty regualr schedule! In the morning around 6am, in the mid morning, around 10am, around 3pm and then from around 8-10pm. I love it!

Food cravings: apples and carmel.

Food aversions: still meat that is cooked in my house.

Gender: BOY

Labor Signs: None

Belly Button in or out? Innie

What I miss: Wegmans subs! Mike and I went on Tuesday for his birthday and I had to get my roastbeef sub heated....it wasn't so good.

What I am looking forward to: My next OB appt on the 18th.

Weekly Wisdom: I need to sleep while I can.

Milestones: I made it to 22 weeks!

How your baby's growing:
At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.

See what your baby looks like this week.

Note: Every baby develops a little differently — even in the womb. Our information is designed to give you a general idea of your baby's development.

How your life's changing:
At this point, you may find your belly becoming a hand magnet. It's perfectly okay to tell folks who touch your tummy that you'd rather they didn't. And if people are telling you that you look smaller or bigger than you should at this point, remember that each woman grows — and shows — at her own rate. What's important is that you see your practitioner for regular visits so she can make sure your baby's growth is on track.

You may start to notice stretch marks on your abdomen as it expands to accommodate your growing baby. At least half of all pregnant women will develop stretch marks by the time they give birth. These small streaks of differently textured skin can range from pink to dark brown (depending on your skin color). Although they most commonly appear on your tummy, stretch marks may also show up on your buttocks, thighs, hips, and breasts. There's no proof that lotion helps prevent stretch marks, but keeping your skin moisturized may help with any itching

Cloth Diapers

So I have offically decided to cloth diaper (CD) and am lucky that Mike is agreeing to do it. I have done MONTHS of research and let me just say that it isn't the same as the CD's that my mom did 28 years ago! There are hundreds of different brands and types but I think I am narrowed it down. I am posting it on here so I don't forget what I have decided to use for my stash and maybe it will help someone else.

I am regiserted at :

www.abbyslane.com

I am also using:

www.greenmountiandiapers.com

I have decided to get:

DIAPERS:

24 newborn prefolds (from green mt)

24 small prefolds (from green mt)

3 Bumgenius one-size pockets (for night time diapering, and daycare)

1 blueberry delux one-size pocket

2 xsmall AIO (all in one) bumgenius- bought

1 xsmall bumbkin AIO- bought

2 small AIO bumgenius

1 small Swaddlebee AIO

2 xsmall sposoeasy AIO (from green mt)

2 small sposoeasy AIO (from green mt)

DIAPER COVERS

1 xsmall imse vimse organic diaper cover

1 small imse vimse organic diaper cover

2 thirstie duos size 1 diaper covers

1 newborn bummis super brite diaper cover- bought

1 newborn bummis whisper wrap diaper cover -bought

1 small bummis super brite diaper cover

1 small bummis whisper wrap diaper cover

DIAPER ACCESSORIES

2 Planet Wise Pail Liners (these line the diaper pail and get thrown in the wash with the CD's)

1 Medium Wet bag by Leslie's Boutique (for diaper bag)

1 diaper sprayer (I did find a blog that had a make your own for 1/2 the price that I am going to see if my mom and I can do and if it works I will post the directions)

3 snappis (newage diaper pins)

I am hoping to buy a little at a time so it doesn't seem like so much. The good thing is that this is still WAY less expensive than disposable diapering (probably about 600-800 (and hopefully not all spent by Mike and I) once I figure in every diaper I ever get but hopefully these will last through all of children and disposable diapers cost on avg. 2500-3000 until potty trained) Also it is so much more eco-friendly, CD's cause less diaper rash and our little one will be potty trained faster.

I figure we will try it, if we hate it will will turn to disposables and sell our stash. Wish us luck :)

How far along: 21 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: As of Saturday up 10.4lbs...ugh, I am thinking maybe some of it was water. I am right on track but I still was sad to get into double digits. I know I am crazy, but I just don't want to over do it.

Sleep: is great! Until I have to pee. At night when I first wake up to pee before I get up I don't feel him move, but as soon as I make a move he is like "oh we are up, let me dance in your belly then..."

Best moment this week: helping out someone else on my bump board when they were asking about cloth diapers.

Movement: lots has been going on in the last week. it is like bubbles in my stomach. I think they are little kicks but they aren't full on, nothing I can feel from the outside yet. And poor Mike can't feel it yet, I can't wait until he can. I have tried to have him feel it the last 2 night but everytime his hand is on my stomach the little one decides to stop.

Food cravings: ceral or oatmeal...so I guess carbs :) yum!

Food aversions: still meat that is cooked in my house.

Gender: BOY

Labor Signs: None

Belly Button in or out? Innie

What I miss: red wine! I am used to having a nice glass or 5 when handing out candy to trick-or-treaters and couldn't do it this year, sad.

What I am looking forward to: Having Mike feel him kick. Hearing Mike talk to him...I can't wait until he does that.

Weekly Wisdom: having a bathroom in my classroom is great!!!

Milestones: I made it to 21 weeks!

How your baby's growing:
Your baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long — the length of a carrot. You may soon feel like she's practicing martial arts as her initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. You may also discover a pattern to her activity as you get to know her better. In other developments, your baby's eyebrows and lids are present now, and if you're having a girl, her vagina has begun to form as well.

See what your baby looks like this week.

Note: Every baby develops a little differently — even in the womb. Our information is designed to give you a general idea of your baby's development.

How your life's changing:

You're probably feeling pretty comfortable these days. You're not too big yet, and the usual discomforts associated with early pregnancy are, for the most part, gone. If you're feeling good, relax and enjoy it while you can — the third trimester may bring with it a new crop of complaints.

That's not to say you won't have some minor glitches to deal with now. For example, increased oil production may contribute to the development (or worsening) of acne. If that's the case, be diligent about washing well with a gentle soap or cleanser twice a day, and make sure that any moisturizer or make-up you use is oil-free. Don't take any oral acne medications — some are very hazardous during pregnancy — or use any topical acne products without first checking with your practitioner.

You're also more prone to varicose veins now. As your pregnancy progresses, there's increasing pressure on the veins in your legs; higher progesterone levels, which may cause the walls of your veins to relax, can make the problem worse. You're more likely to get varicose veins if other family members have them. Also, they tend to get worse with each successive pregnancy and as you age. To help prevent or minimize varicose veins, exercise daily, prop up your feet and legs whenever possible, sleep on your left side, and wear maternity support hose.

You may also notice so-called spider veins (a group of tiny blood vessels near the surface of your skin), particularly on your ankles, legs, or face. They may have a spider- or sunburst-like pattern with little branches radiating out from the center, they may look like the branches of a tree, or they may be a group of separate thin lines with no particular pattern. Though they may be a bit unsightly, spider veins don't cause discomfort and usually disappear after delivery.

20 Weeks-Late again

I will try and get better, but it seems everytime I go to write a post I get sidetracked or busy. But here is my 20 week update and I will try super hard to add my 21 week post on Monday. I will also ask Mike to take a new picture of me, I am pretty sure I had my first little pop...finally!

How far along: 20 (20w 4 d technically)

Total weight gain/loss: As of Saturday up 7.4lbs. Tomorrow I will weigh in again, my guess is somewhere around 8-9lbs.

Sleep: I am getting up at least 3 times a night to pee...man this is going to be a long second half.

Best moment this week: Just bought 2 diaper covers from abbyslane...love pay day!

Movement: Flutters, maybe very light kicks...I am def. feeling it daily about 2 inches below my belly button. I can't wait until Mike can feel it too!!

Food cravings: not sure this week....I am about 2 eat my second scoop of peanutbutter so I will go with that.

Food aversions: still meat that is cooked in my house. Wed night I made my favorite type of chicken (lemon butter) and I had to force myself to eat half of eat, Thurs I got fried chicken from popeyes for Mike and I and I ate every bite. I am guessing it is just the over powering smell in the house that weirds me out.

Gender: BOY

Labor Signs: None

Belly Button in or out? Innie

What I miss: not having sudden overwhemling urge to pee, usually once I have gotten in bed.

What I am looking forward to: Having Mike feel him kick. Hearing Mike talk to him...I can't wait until he does that.

Weekly Wisdom: Cloth Diapering is the way to go! So happy with our choice to do this eventhough some people don't have faith in us. It is SO much cheaper and eco-friendly. My little sister should be so proud :)

Milestones: I made it to 20 weeks!

How your baby's growing:
Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby's legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to his bottom — the "crown to rump" measurement. After 20 weeks, he's measured from head to toe.)

He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).

Nursery Bedding and Other things BRU related

So today we picked out the nursery bedding. Well I decided and sent Mike a picture for him to ok it. He was nice and smart enough to say it was fine, I am assuming he likes it but I am not sure it is quite the chicago bears theme he was probably thinking of. I will have to tell him once our little boy gets his "big boy room" Mike can go all out with the chicago bears theme. But when he is a baby it is all cutesy. It is SO cute! I love it!!! Here is a picture:

We pretty much finished with the registry. I am happy with it. I think we have a lot of good things on there and registered for all of the things we need. I am trying to stay junk and clutter free! We are hoping to get the things off of there because I spent a lot of time researching and getting the best stuff for us and our little boy :)

19 weeks-WAY late!!!

How far along: 19 weeks (really almost 20)

Total weight gain/loss: As of today up 7.4lbs.

Sleep: It is wonderful!

Best moment this week: Finding out we were having a baby boy :)

Movement: Flutters

Food cravings: back to salt...pringles

Food aversions: chicken, and pretty much any meat that gets cooked in my house...so weird!

Gender: BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Labor Signs: None

Belly Button in or out? Innie

What I miss: sleeping through the night.

What I am looking forward to: Feeling the first kick...I am only feeling flutters.

Weekly Wisdom: Making name lists is helpful.

Milestones: I made it to 19 weeks!

How your baby's growing:
Your baby's sensory development is exploding! Her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.

Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a large heirloom tomato. Her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body now. Her kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.

See what your baby looks like this week.

Note: Every baby develops a little differently — even in the womb. Our information is designed to give you a general idea of your baby's development.

How your life's changing:
Think you're big now? You'll start growing even faster in the weeks to come. As a result, you may notice some achiness in your lower abdomen or even an occasional brief, stabbing pain on one or both sides — especially when you shift position or at the end of an active day. Most likely, this is round ligament pain. The ligaments that support your uterus are stretching to accommodate its increasing weight. This is nothing to be alarmed about, but call your practitioner if the pain continues even when you're resting or becomes severe.

You may be noticing some skin changes, too. Are the palms of your hands red? Nothing to worry about — it's from the extra estrogen. You may also have patches of darkened skin caused by a temporary increase in pigment. When these darker patches appear on your upper lip, cheeks, and forehead, they're called chloasma, or the "mask of pregnancy." You may also notice some darkening of your nipples, freckles, scars, underarms, inner thighs, and vulva. That darkened line running from your belly button to your pubic bone is called the linea nigra, or "dark line."

These darkened spots will probably fade shortly after delivery. In the meantime, protect yourself from the sun, which intensifies the pigment changes. Cover up, wear a brimmed hat, and use sunscreen when you're outdoors. And if you're self-conscious about your "mask," a little concealing makeup can work wonders

First Offical Trip to BRU

What a wonderful weekend I just had, my parents came into town on Friday night which was great! On Saturday we woke up early, went to breakfast and headed out to Babies R Us to start our little ones registry. It is so much fun, at least for my mom and I. My poor dad had to follow us around, push the cart and check off things as I registred for it. Poor or lucky Mike depending on how you look at it had to work. But since we don't know whether or not it is a boy or girl we didn't do any of the fun stuff like the nursery or anything gender specific so he didn't miss too much. Next Monday I am sure Mike and I will be back at BRU as soon as we find out what we are having to start adding fun gender specific things. My parents bought us 2 big items for the baby this weekend that we really wanted and needed which was great. Mike and I are very lucky to have them. Here's what they got us:

All in all it was a great weekend!!

18 Weeks

How far along: 18 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: As of Saturday up 5.6 lbs.

Sleep: It is wonderful!

Best moment this week: Seeing my parents and them helping me start the baby registery.

Movement: I am pretty sure I have felt a few, I think...I thought last week for sure, now I am not so sure again...I am ready for the kick so I know for sure.

Food cravings: back to fruit, yum, apples and yogurt.

Food aversions: Nothing really

Gender: We find out 1 week from today

Labor Signs: None

Belly Button in or out? Innie

What I miss: having a drink with my parents on the back porch when they come to visit.

What I am looking forward to: My next OB appt. on Wednesday and one week from today finding out the gender of the baby.

Weekly Wisdom: Research is important when picking out things for your LO!

Milestones: I made it to 18 weeks!

How your baby's growing:
Head to rump, your baby is about 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a bell pepper) and he weighs almost 7 ounces. He's busy flexing his arms and legs — movements that you'll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. His blood vessels are visible through his thin skin, and his ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from his head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around his nerves, a process that will continue for a year after he's born. If you're having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If you're having a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.

See what your baby looks like this week.

Note: Every baby develops a little differently — even in the womb. Our information is designed to give you a general idea of your baby's development.

How your life's changing:
Hungry? An increase in appetite is pretty common about now. Make it count by choosing meals and snacks that are rich in nutrients instead of empty calories (chips, French fries, candy, and other sweets). Bigger, more comfortable clothes are a must now as your appetite and waistline grow.

Your cardiovascular system is undergoing dramatic changes, and during this trimester your blood pressure will probably be lower than usual. Don't spring up too fast from a lying or sitting position or you might feel a little dizzy.

From now on, when you do lie down, it's best to lie on your side — or at least partly tilted to one side. (When you lie flat on your back, your uterus can compress a major vein, leading to decreased blood return to your heart.) Try placing a pillow behind you or under your hip or upper leg for comfort.

If you haven't already had a second-trimester ultrasound, you'll probably have one soon. This painless procedure helps your practitioner check how your baby's growing, screen for certain birth defects, check the placenta and umbilical cord, determine whether the due date you're working with is accurate, and see how many babies you're carrying. During the exam, you might see your baby moving around or sucking his thumb. Bring your partner along, and be sure to ask for a printout for your baby's first photo album!

17 Weeks Today

How far along: 17 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: As of Saturday up 4.4 lbs.

Sleep: I love sleep!!! I wish I could get more.

Best moment this week: Seeing that I now have a very little bump...sort of at least

Movement: I am pretty positive I am feeling flutters, not all the time, I am not sure I am even feeling it everyday, but I have def. felt a few.

Food cravings: brownie mix!

Food aversions: Nothing in particular, but I am feeling picky.

Gender: We find out 2 weeks from today

Labor Signs: None

Belly Button in or out? Innie, but there is now a darker circle around it...like a birthmark. I am not sure what that is.

What I miss: sleeping through the night without getting up at night to pee.

What I am looking forward to: My parents are coming to visit on Friday for the weekend. I get to start the babies registery this weekend...yeah!!!!!

Weekly Wisdom: At least I have an excuse for forgetting everything!

Milestones: I made it to 17 weeks!

How your baby's growing:
Your baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.

See what your baby looks like this week.

Note: Every baby develops a little differently — even in the womb. Our information is designed to give you a general idea of your baby's development.

How your life's changing:
Starting to feel a bit off balance? As your belly grows, your center of gravity changes, so you may begin to occasionally feel a little unsteady on your feet. Try to avoid situations with a high risk of falling. Wear low-heeled shoes to reduce your risk of taking a tumble; trauma to your abdomen could be dangerous for you and your baby. You'll also want to be sure to buckle up when you're in a car — keep the lap portion of the seat belt under your belly, drawn snugly across your hips, and also use the shoulder harness, which should fit snugly between your breasts.

You may also notice your eyes becoming drier. Using over-the-counter lubricating drops may help. If your contact lenses become uncomfortable, try wearing them for shorter stretches of time. If you still have discomfort, switch to glasses until after you give birth.

I love Saturdays

I love Saturdays....it is 1:15pm in the afternoon and I just got out of bed about 45mins. ago. I have been up for the most part Since 7:30 but it feels great to just lay in bed with nothing to do. This is my one day a week to just be lazy. So I am going to spend the day looking online at babies r' us and target at baby stuff and sit in my pj's. Poor Mike is at work and won't be home until Monday. He is working OT for us. Hopefully soon we will have enough in savings that we can cut back on the OT and I can quit my second job. Just a few more months but in the end it will all be worth it. Oh and one more thing since today is Saturday I weighed myself, 135.6, down .4 pounds since last Saturday and up 4.4 pounds since my BFP.

Fun Pictures

I am 16 weeks today and have taken some pictures since now I have a little bump and not just bloat. Today was also my first day in maternity clothes. The first picture is my little baby bump and the second is my first maternity outfit. The pictures are alittle small but it gives you the idea.

16 Weeks

How far along: 16 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: As of Saturday up 4.8 lbs.

Sleep: No problems sleeping.

Best moment this week: Going shopping with Margie for maternity clothes.

Movement: I think I felt a flutter. So maybe a little. I am not sure if it is that or just rumbles from being hungry.

Food cravings: life ceral!

Food aversions: Nothing much this week.

Gender: We will find out in 21 days.

Labor Signs: None

Belly Button in or out? Innie

What I miss: not being even more emotional than I normally am!

What I am looking forward to: My mom coming down so I can start my registery! Also finding out the sex...set up the appt. for 10/19/2009

Weekly Wisdom: Maternity pants are great :)

Milestones: I made it to 16 weeks!

How your baby's growing:
Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now, he's about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren't recognizable yet. He's even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.

15 Weeks

How far along: 15 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: As of Saturday up 3.4 pounds.

Sleep: I am sleeping well, but I am getting up 3 times a night to pee.

Best moment this week: Getting somehand-me-down maternity pants

Movement: Nothing yet, but hopefully soon.

Food cravings: back to apples

Food aversions: I made pulled pork on Saturday and went to take a bite and had to throw it out. YUCK! Even thinking about it now makes me want to throw up.

Gender: We will find out in 28 days.

Labor Signs: None

Belly Button in or out? Innie

What I miss: not having a slight backache all the time. The worst part, knowing it is only going to get worse.

What I am looking forward to: finding out the sex...set up the appt. for 10/19/2009

Weekly Wisdom: I can start to blame things on the hormones!

Milestones: I made it to 15 weeks!

How your baby's growing:
Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an apple). She's busy moving amniotic fluid through her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in her lungs begin to develop. Her legs are growing longer than her arms now, and she can move all of her joints and limbs. Although her eyelids are still fused shut, she can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she's likely to move away from the beam. There's not much for your baby to taste at this point, but she is forming taste buds. Finally, if you have an ultrasound this week, you may be able to find out whether your baby's a boy or a girl! (Don't be too disappointed if it remains a mystery, though. Nailing down your baby's sex depends on the clarity of the picture and on your baby's position. He or she may be modestly curled up or turned in such a way as to "hide the goods.")

See what your baby looks like this week.

Note: Every baby develops a little differently — even in the womb. Our information is designed to give you a general idea of your baby's development.

How your life's changing:
You've probably gained about 5 pounds by now (a little more or less is fine, too) and are well into the swing of your pregnancy, but you may still be surprised by an unexpected symptom now and then. If your nose is stuffed up, for instance, you can probably chalk it up to the combined effect of hormonal changes and increased blood flow to your mucous membranes. This condition is so common, there's even a name for it: "rhinitis of pregnancy." Some pregnant women also suffer nosebleeds as a result of increased blood volume and blood vessel expansion in the nose.

If you're having amniocentesis, it'll most likely happen between now and 18 weeks. This test can identify hundreds of genetic and chromosomal disorders. If you're getting very anxious while waiting for the results, it may help to know that most women who undergo amniocentesis get good news about their babies — bringing welcome relief from their worries.

Don't be surprised if you and your partner are feeling a little stressed out these days. Many pregnant couples worry about their baby's health and how they'll handle the changes ahead. But with physical discomforts on the wane and energy on the rise, this is also a wonderful trimester for most women.

I am doing pretty well this week. I am still in that "inbetween" stage. No one that doesn't know me would have a clue I was pregnant, they would just think I have a little extra tummy fat. I can tell a little, esp. at night. My voice hurts sometimes which is odd, but since I feel fine I am blaming it on my hormones and allergies. We went to see my cousin and his wife and their new baby boy Tyler last Friday and it was great!! It was so nice to see them! I loved getting stories and advice from them. It was also wonderful to see Mike and his reaction to Tyler. He did such a wonderful job and I can't wait to see him with our baby!! I am in high spirits and can't wait to see what the future days bring :)

14 Weeks (yesterday)

How far along: 14 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: As of Saturday up 2.2 pounds.

Sleep: I am tired enough that I am now sleeping pretty well. But I am starting to get up like 3 times a night to pee.

Best moment this week: 14 Week appt yesterday. It was the first time Mike heard the heartbeat in person. It was nice to see his face.

Movement: Nothing yet, but hopefully soon.

Food cravings: hamburgers....yum!

Food aversions: I noticed yesterdsay bananas taste funny.

Gender: We will find out in 33 days.

Labor Signs: None

Belly Button in or out? Innie

What I miss: sleeping more more than 2-3 hours without having to get up to pee!

What I am looking forward to: finding out the sex...set up the appt. for 10/19/2009

Weekly Wisdom: I am suppose to gain weight.

Milestones: I made it to 14 weeks!

How your baby's growing:
This week's big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb.

In other news: Your baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces. His body's growing faster than his head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, his arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of his body. (His legs still have some lengthening to do.) He's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over his body. Your baby's liver starts making bile this week — a sign that it's doing its job right — and his spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells. Though you can't feel his tiny punches and kicks yet, your little pugilist's hands and feet (which now measure about 1/2 inch long) are more flexible and active.

See what your baby looks like this week.

Note: Every baby develops a little differently — even in the womb. Our information is designed to give you a general idea of your baby's development.

How your life's changing:
Welcome to your second trimester! Your energy is likely returning, your breasts may be feeling less tender, and your queasiness may have completely abated by now. If not, hang on — chances are good it will soon be behind you (although an unlucky few will still feel nauseated months from now).

The top of your uterus is a bit above your pubic bone, which may be enough to push your tummy out a tad. Starting to show can be quite a thrill, giving you and your partner visible evidence of the baby you've been waiting for. Take some time to plan, daydream, and enjoy this amazing time. It's normal to worry a bit now and then, but try to focus on taking care of yourself and your baby, and having faith that you're well equipped for what's ahead.

Saturday

I am feeling pretty good today. Trying to motivate myself to do my workout video. I do have my workout clothes on which is a step in the right direction.

I have been spending the last week researching cloth diapers and I think I have narrowed it down to 2 brands. I am either going with gDiapers or Gro Baby. There are positive and negatives to both but either way I think those are good choices for Mike and I.

I have my 14 week appt. on Monday which I am excited about because it will be the first time Mike will get to hear the heartbeat live. I can't wait to see the look on his face!

I stepped on the scale this morning and it is going up. I gained less that a pound in the last week which is good and I am up 2.2 pounds total. I was 133.4 this morning. According to the doctor I should gain about 10 pounds by 20 weeks so that means I have almost 8 I can still gain and only 6 weeks until 20 weeks. I hope I continue with the less than a pound a week for now.

I talked to my mom this morning about my parents upcoming visit and I am SO excited. I haven't seen my dad since I was 7 weeks and I will be 17 weeks when they come so he will get to see a baby bump. Plus I get to go shopping with my mom for baby stuff and maternity clothes. Only a few more weeks YEAH!!

I need new Pants!

It's offical, I am wearing a rubberband instead of buttoning my pants. They are just getting too tight around the tummy area. Yesterday I came home from work and told Mike (was kind of crying when I did it) and he was like "That's going to happen." I know this but it made me feel better complaining to him. I probably need to start wearing maternity pants but I was hoping to make it to 16 weeks before I did. Why 16 weeks you ask? God only knows, I have no idea why but I feel like 16 weeks is a good time to start....will I make it that far, time will tell!

13 weeks Today

How far along: 13 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: As of Saturday up 1.6 pounds.

Sleep: It seems to be getting better, but I am up at least 2 times a night to pee.

Best moment this week: We had the NT scan on Friday and the doctor said everything looked wonderful.

Movement: Nope

Food cravings: Apples, I eat one everyday!

Food aversions: Still not big on chicken...if I don't cook it I am better with it, but I would rather not eat it. The smell...ugh

Gender: Not sure, I had a dream the other night it was a boy, so we'll see in about 6 weeks.

Labor Signs: None

Belly Button in or out? Innie

What I miss: wearing my pants without a rubber band.

What I am looking forward to: 14 week appt. next Monday

Weekly Wisdom: Remember it is the hormones!

Milestones: I made it to 13 weeks! Our baby is now in its teens!

How your baby's growing:
Fingerprints have formed on your baby's tiny fingertips, her veins and organs are clearly visible through her still-thin skin, and her body is starting to catch up with her head — which makes up just a third of her body size now. If you're having a girl, she now has more than 2 million eggs in her ovaries. Your baby is almost 3 inches long (the size of a medium shrimp) and weighs nearly an ounce.

See what your baby looks like this week.

Note: Every baby develops a little differently — even in the womb. Our information is designed to give you a general idea of your baby's development.

How your life's changing:
This is the last week of your first trimester, and your risk of miscarriage is now much lower than earlier in pregnancy. Next week marks the beginning of your second trimester, a time of relative comfort for many women who see early pregnancy symptoms such as morning sickness and fatigue subside. More good news: Many couples also notice a distinct libido lift around this time. Birth is still months away, but your breasts may have already started making colostrum, the nutrient-rich fluid that feeds your baby for the first few days after birth, before your milk starts to flow.

NT Scan and Weight

First the boring part, today was the first offical real weight gain. I am 132.8 pounds. So I have gained 1.6 pounds since I got pregnant. Since I will be 13 weeks on Monday I think I am doing just fine.

Now the good part. Here are some pictures from the NT scan. The doctor said everything looked great. The neck measurements all looked great and the heartbeat was 158. I should get the blood results should be in by the time Mike and I go to the 14 week appt. on 9/14 but she said we didn't have anything to be concerned about.

12 Weeks Today

How your baby's growing:
The most dramatic development this week: reflexes. Your baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements. In fact, if you prod your abdomen, your baby will squirm in response, although you won't be able to feel it. His intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into his abdominal cavity about now, and his kidneys will begin excreting urine into his bladder.

Meanwhile, nerve cells are multiplying rapidly, and in your baby's brain, synapses are forming furiously. His face looks unquestionably human: His eyes have moved from the sides to the front of his head, and his ears are right where they should be. From crown to rump, your baby-to-be is just over 2 inches long (about the size of a lime) and weighs half an ounce.

See what your baby looks like this week. (Or see what fraternal twins look like in the womb this week.)

Note: Every baby develops a little differently, even in the womb. Our information is designed to give you a general idea of your baby's development.

How your life's changing:
Your uterus has grown to the point where your healthcare provider can now feel the top of it (the fundus) low in your abdomen, just above your pubic bone. You may already be into maternity clothes, especially if this isn't your first pregnancy. If you're still fairly small and not yet ready for maternity clothes, you've no doubt noticed that your waist is thickening and that you're more comfortable in loose, less restrictive clothing.

You may begin to feel heartburn (also called acid indigestion), a burning sensation that often extends from the bottom of your breastbone to your lower throat. Many women get heartburn for the first time during pregnancy, and those who've previously had bouts of heartburn may find that it gets worse. During pregnancy, the placenta produces a lot of the hormone progesterone, which relaxes the valve that separates the esophagus from the stomach. Particularly when you're lying down, gastric acid can seep back up the pipe, which causes the uncomfortable burning sensation. For many women the problem doesn't begin (or get worse) until later in pregnancy, when your growing uterus starts to push up on your stomach. The discomfort may range from mildly annoying to intense and distracting.

How far along: 12 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: As of Saturday down .8 pounds.

Sleep: I thought I was over the tired stage but I guess not. Friday I slept for 12 hours woke up Saturday, was up for a bit then took a 2 hour nap on the couch. I guess going back to school is making me sleepy!

Best moment this week: I think I felt a lump for the first time in my lower stomach when I was laying down in bed 2 days ago. That was pretty cool.

Movement: Nope

Food cravings: Loving Pringles!

Food aversions: I tried making a roasted chicken the other day and I smelled it and about lost it! YUCK! But since then I have not had any problems with chicken. I think it was just the cooked roasted chicken. I won't be eating that for a while.

Gender: Not sure

Labor Signs: None

Belly Button in or out? Innie

What I miss: Prime Rib, and Blue Moon

What I am looking forward to: My NT scan on Friday.

Weekly Wisdom: Sleep is still my best friend!

Milestones: I made it to 12 weeks!

My Weight

Well I am still in the negative. I promise I am eating! I am eating what I want for the most part, just trying to be healthy. I steps on the scale this morning 3 times to make sure it was correct. 130.4 pounds. Thats means I am -.8 pounds from my starting weight. I am not concerned, my doctor said I should only gain about 10 pounds in the first 20 weeks and 25-35 total so I figure I am fine. The weight will come soon enough.

Friday, August 28, 2009

Tired, So Tired!

I thought that I was over the "sleeply" part but I guess not. I started work again on Wednesday and I am wiped out! I was at school until 4:00pm Wednesday, Thursday and 5:30pm today. I still have so much work to do! I moved classrooms so I am having to set everything up ugh! My back is killing me! I wish Mike was home to rub it. Ok complaining over, I am going to take the dogs for a walk and crawl into my nice wonderful bed!

11 Weeks (Yesterday)

Yesterday I moved on up to 11 weeks. I never thought I would love Monday, but I do! I haven't written in a few days but here's the major updates:

Mike and I scheduled our NT scan and blood work for Sept. 4th at 3:00pm. Our next OB appt. is on Sept 14th at 3:15 where I will be 14 weeks. I weighted myself on Saturday and I was 131.6 pounds. So I am up .4 lbs which is nothing. When I went to the doctors last weeks they said I was up 2.5 pounds but I think it must have been water weight. I am going by my weekly weight-in.

How far along: 11 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: As of Saturday up .4 pounds, not bad.

Sleep: I have noticed that if I wake up in the morning (either 4am when Mike gets up or 6am when I have to pee) if I don't eat something small I cannot go back to sleep.

Best moment this week: Enjoying my last few days of sleeping in before I am back to work tomorrow!

Movement: Nope

Food cravings: Nothing really, just hungry more often

Food aversions: Still not into grease/fast food. Which is a good thing!

Gender: Not sure

Labor Signs: None

Belly Button in or out? Innie

What I miss: Medium Rare steak!

What I am looking forward to: My NT scan next Friday.

Weekly Wisdom: Working out actually makes me feel better!

Milestones: I made it to 11 weeks!

How your baby's growing:
Your baby, just over 1 1/2 inches long and about the size of a fig, is now almost fully formed. Her hands will soon open and close into fists, tiny tooth buds are beginning to appear under her gums, and some of her bones are beginning to harden.

She's already busy kicking and stretching, and her tiny movements are so effortless they look like water ballet. These movements will become more frequent as her body grows and becomes more developed and functional. You won't feel your baby's acrobatics for another month or two — nor will you notice the hiccupping that may be happening now that her diaphragm is forming.

10 Week Appointment

Today I had my second OB visit. It was great! I got to hear the babies heartbeat (167bpm)and my OB went over everything that is going to happen over the next several months. The visit started with the usual peeing in a cup, getting weighted and then bam! The nurse told me to get naked (for my oh so wonderful pap) and she would be in to draw blood. I knew I was going to have to have blood drawn, but I had to have 6 vials taken!! Ugh! I guess I had better get used to it. They we discussed the NT scan. Mike and I have decided that having it done was a good idea. We would not end the pregnancy but we would like to be prepared. I am not overly concerned about the results, I am not over 35 and neither of us have a family history of disabilities. My next appointment is scheduled for Sept. 14th at 3:15pm

10 Weeks Today

Today I am 10 Weeks! It is so exciting to be in double digits. For some reason it makes me feel so much better. Wednesday I have my second appointment to hear the babies heartbeat. Unfortunately Mike cannot be there. He is working very hard for the baby by taking a trip to Wisconsin for work. But my mom is coming with me to the appointment and we plan on taking a video to send to Mike so he can hear it.

How far along: 10 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: As of Sunday up 1.3 pounds but I am blaming it on my sisters scale and my lack of being regular haha!

Sleep: Less tired, just a little in the afternoon, but not enough to really sleep which is good since I am going back to work next week!

Best moment this week: Got to go to Florida to visit my sister with my mom.

Movement: Nope

Food cravings: Nothing really, just hungry more often

Food aversions: I really thought I wanted pizza a few days ago, but when my sister ordered it and I took a piece is was not good! ugh

Gender: Not sure

Belly Button in or out? Innie

What I miss: Real coffee! I have been down in Florida where my mom is making coffee every morning and I can just smell it and that's it. I have had a few decafs but it just isn't the same!

What I am looking forward to: Wednesday's doctor's appointment. We get to hear the heartbeat!

Weekly Wisdom: Hormones are beginning to rage! Poor Mike!!! I am so lucky he loves me.

Milestones: I made it to 10 weeks! The baby has officially graduated to a fetus!Double digits!!

How your baby's growing:
Though he's barely the size of a kumquat — a little over an inch or so long, crown to bottom — and weighs less than a quarter of an ounce, your baby has now completed the most critical portion of his development. This is the beginning of the so-called fetal period, a time when the tissues and organs in his body rapidly grow and mature.

He's swallowing fluid and kicking up a storm. Vital organs — including his kidneys, intestines, brain, and liver (now making red blood cells in place of the disappearing yolk sac) — are in place and starting to function, though they'll continue to develop throughout your pregnancy.

If you could take a peek inside your womb, you'd spot minute details, like tiny nails forming on fingers and toes (no more webbing) and peach-fuzz hair beginning to grow on tender skin.

In other developments: Your baby's limbs can bend now. His hands are flexed at the wrist and meet over his heart, and his feet may be long enough to meet in front of his body. The outline of his spine is clearly visible through translucent skin, and spinal nerves are beginning to stretch out from his spinal cord. Your baby's forehead temporarily bulges with his developing brain and sits very high on his head, which measures half the length of his body. From crown to rump, he's about 1 1/4 inches long. In the coming weeks, your baby will again double in size — to nearly 3 inches.

Weight Gain

It is offical I have gained weight, but only about a pound. I weighted myself this morning at my sisters house (so maybe it is because it is not my scale haha) and it was 132.5 so I am up 1.3 pounds from the BFP. I might re-weight myself on Tuesday when I get home on my scale or just say screw it and wait until next week. I have been eating like crap while here so I figure I will be back down when I get back home and back to my routine. That's it for now.

9 Weeks

How far along: 9 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: As of Saturday down .4 pounds

Sleep: Insomina is beginning! I am so tired but I am not sleeping as well.

Best moment this week: Seeing the heartbeat on Monday

Movement: Nope

Food cravings: Nothing really, just haungry more often

Food aversions: greasy food...yuck! Starts off good, but I regret it.

Gender: Not sure

Labor Signs: None

Belly Button in or out? Innie

What I miss: Blue Moon...still, I think I am going to request that in the delivery room!

What I am looking forward to: Going to visit my sister today for the week in Florida with my mom.

Weekly Wisdom: Being bloated sucks! I am ready for a cute bump!!

Milestones: I made it to 9 weeks!

How your baby's growing:
Your new resident is nearly an inch long — about the size of a grape — and weighs just a fraction of an ounce. She's starting to look more and more human. Her essential body parts are accounted for, though they'll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months. Other changes abound: Your baby's heart finishes dividing into four chambers, and the valves start to form — as do her tiny teeth. The embryonic "tail" is completely gone. Your baby's organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks. Her eyes are fully formed, but her eyelids are fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks. She has tiny earlobes, and her mouth, nose, and nostrils are more distinct. The placenta is developed enough now to take over most of the critical job of producing hormones. Now that your baby's basic physiology is in place, she's poised for rapid weight gain.

Hunger Pains

I have started to feel much more hungry the last few days. I am trying not to eat more than usual and if I eat something I am trying to be healthy but I am starting to feel hungry A LOT more!!

The worst part is I feel hungry the most at night after I am in bed. I will try and eat a few crackers or an apple right before bed but if I wake up during the night I feel like I haven't eaten in forever! I am starting to keep a lot more fruit in the house so at least if I am hungry I can eat something that is good for the baby and me but last night I did eat 3 shortbread cookies in bed and it was great! I am not looking forward to the weight in tomorrow, I have a feeling the scale is going to start moving up! Haha!!

We have a Heartbeat!!!

Mike and I are both so excited! Yesterday was our 8 week appointment and we had an ultrasound to see the heart beat. It was amazing!! I was so nervous going in, I was afraid something would be wrong, but as soon as I saw the heartbeat I felt so happy!

Based on yesterday's appointment our EDD is March 15, 2010. The heartbeat was nice and strong beating at 170 beats per minute and he/she measured at 1.71 cm. Our next appointment is on Aug. 19th. It will be a long appointment, about an hour where my Doctor will take 4 viles of blood, have an ultrasound to hear the heartbeat and tell me what to expect over the next several months. I can't wait.

Now it is all real! We are having a baby :)

Sundays....

So today is my first day back to work since my vacation. A double at the resturant, ugh!! I can't wait until I don't have to do this anymore. I went to bed nice and early and slept until 9:00am but I am already feeling like I could use a nap. I remember when Sundays were a day of rest....what happened to that? For the last 3 years I think I have had a handful of Sundays off. I hate Sundays.

On another note I did weight myself yesterday...131.6 pounds. So I am up +.4 pounds from my original weight. That is a glass of water. I can barely count that. I am pretty happy.

The only good thing I am finding about today is that I am closr to tomorrow! Tomorrow is mine and Mike's first appointment! YEAH!!! I am hoping we can hear or at least see the heartbeat. Right now I am not going to lie, I am alittle nervous. I am sure everything is fine, but I just can't wait until 11:30am tomorrow to be sure.

Ok, time to get ready to leave for work....boo! I will update after the appointment tomorrow!

8 Weeks Today

I haven't updated in a while. A lot of new things have happened. Mike and I went home to tell our families we were having a baby and they were all SO excited. I think my parents called everyone they have known in the last 20 years! Mike's parents are also very happy. So now that my mom knows the offical planning has begun! I am so excited.

New this week: Webbed fingers and toes are poking out from your baby's hands and feet, his eyelids practically cover his eyes, breathing tubes extend from his throat to the branches of his developing lungs, and his "tail" is just about gone. In his brain, nerve cells are branching out to connect with one another, forming primitive neural pathways. You may be daydreaming about your baby as one sex or the other, but the external genitals still haven't developed enough to reveal whether you're having a boy or a girl. Either way, your baby — about the size of a kidney bean — is constantly moving and shifting, though you still can't feel it.

How far along: 8 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: As of last Sunday down 1.2 pounds, but we will see tomorrow on weight day.

Sleep: I slept on a blow up air bed for the last week at my parents. Never again while pregnant! I was SO swore on our trip back home yesterday it was awful. Poor Mike felt so bad, I should have had him sleep on the air bed!

Best moment this week: Telling my family (last week)

Movement: Nope

Food cravings: Fruit, I figure since I will probably have months of cravings that are bad for me, having a craving that is actually healthy is a good thing!

Food aversions: Fast food. Mike had BK the other day and I thought I was going to throw up smelling it.

Gender: My feeling is a girl right now, but who knows.

Labor Signs: None

Belly Button in or out? Innie

What I miss: Blue Moon

What I am looking forward to: Starting to buy things

Weekly Wisdom: Being bloated sucks! I am ready for a cute bump!!

Milestones: I made it to 8 weeks!

Reading Up/ Tomorrow

I did a lot of reading up when Mike and I decided we were going to start a family. I read "Getting Pregnant," "Taking Charge of your Fertility," and "Belly Laughs." When we were trying I bought Mike "Dude's Guide to Pregnancy." I was so excited to give it to him, but in are almost 7 year relationship he has not read many books so I wasn't to sure if he would actually read it.

To my surprise he has been very into it. He read some of the book when he first got it and then the other night while we were lying in bed he was reading it and laughing. Every few minutes he said say "listen to this...blah blah blah." It was SO cute! I have been impressed by how excited and happy he is about our baby everyday. I am very lucky!!!

On another note, tomorrow we are finally driving to NY. We have kept this secert from out families for 3 weeks and for me that is FOREVER!!! I am so excited about seeing their faces! I can't believe we have been able to keep this a secert. I hope I can sleep tonight!
